Rare Terminator VHS Sells For $32,500

ComicConnect recently broke new ground with a record sale of a sealed VHS copy of The Terminator IGS 9.5 (Gem Mint) first print at $32,500. “This is an extremely rare release of an all-time classic movie,” Zurzolo added. “The first version released for home, and with a population of just one, this unique, highest graded copy was a grand slam for the buyer.”

Released in theaters in October 1984, the James Cameron directed blockbuster was released on home video that same year by Thorn EMI Video. The Terminator cemented the status of director James Cameron after his obscure and ill-received directorial debut, Piranha II: The Spawning. Action superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger starred as the titular cyborg assassin, the Terminator, who was sent back in time to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), mother of the future resistance leader John Connor, while mixing it up with a time-traveling soldier, Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn). 

Going on to gross $78.3 million, on a meager $6.4 million budget, the film was a steppingstone to decades of international success for Cameron, Schwarzenegger, and Hamilton and birthed a franchise of movies, TV shows, comics, books, video games, and countless more pop culture pieces.
